Class fee $200.00 plus $15.00 for supplies.

Basic Electricity

Time required with no past experience is 4 to 6 hours. The class includes theory, safety, wiring diagrams, appliance and HVAC electricity, and an introduction to the proper use of test instruments and troubleshooting. Class fee $300.00.

Basics of Gas or Oil Heating

Time required depends on past experience. A complete class takes 4 days for those that have a mechanical background with little or no HVAC experience. Topics covered are combustion, component parts and function, proper sizing, ignition, safety, tools, instruments, installation, diagnosing, 80% & 90+% furnaces, live equipment demonstrations etc. A new person completing this class will still require some hands on field experience. Class fee $300.00 per day.

Basics for Refrigeration, AC and Heat Pumps

Time required depends on past experience. A complete class takes 4 days for those that have a mechanical background with little or no HVAC experience. Topics are refrigeration theory, thermodynamics, terminology, AC component parts and function, proper sizing, safety, tools, instruments, installation, diagnosing, charging procedures, live equipment demonstrations etc. A new person completing this class will still require some hands on field experience. Note: CFC certification is available for an additional fee and is required to service AC equipment. Class fee $300.00 per day.

Heating Diagnostics and PM Checks

R 410a Certification

Time required is 2 hours. This class will compare the similarities and differences between R22 and R410A. Topics included are temperature/pressure relationships, chemical composition, storage cylinders, high pressure tools, safety procedures, driers, controls, oils, etc. Also covered is installation and servicing procedures. Upon completion, a NuComfort certificate will be issued. Class fee $200.00.

Furnace Test Instruments

Time required is 2 to 4 hours. Topics covered are safety and a complete review of why, how and when to use furnace test instruments. Examples of the instruments and tools discussed are VOM, capacitor analyzer, microamps, magnehelic gauges, various gas pressure testing tools, electronic thermometers, combustion leak detectors, combustion analyzers, various heat exchanger tools to check for cracks etc. Class fee $300.00.

Economizers

Time required is 2 to 4 hours. A free handout text is used to demonstrate the application, installation, sequence of operation and servicing of the package unit economizer.
